Milena Mepris is a rock singer and guitarist from New York City who fronts a rambunctious quartet of the same name. With her soaring harmonies and driving bass lines, Mepris is not afraid to put prettiness and humor back into rock and roll. Her influences span from early Madonna to the grunge sounds of Nirvana to the classic rock of The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, and Patti Smith, making Ms. Mepris a force to be reckoned with on stage - graceful yet tough at the same time. Despite her 23 years of age, Milena is already quite accomplished - as lead singer and guitarist of London all-girl trio The Revenge, she toured the UK, received acclaim from the NME and had singles played on Steve Lamaqs Radio 1 show. She then went on to play lead guitar in the Brooklyn based electro-punk band Black Moustache, who after releasing their debut on Lakeshore Records received write-ups in Interview, New York Magazine, I-D, Dazed and Confused, and V Magazine. Black Moustache toured the US and Canada and played shows with Bloc Party, Avenue D, ARE Weapons, and Fannypack. Having had her taste of band life, Mepris is now ready to step up as a solo artist. Her sassy songs move from slow and moody to fast-paced and aggressive in the space of a heart beat and feature lyrics that you cant get out of your head. She and her long-term producer/drummer Alex Elena are in the midst of recording her first album, a chronicle of young New York dirt and scandal, glamour and corruption, intoxicants and relationships. So far, the response has been great New York dance legend Junior Sanchez remixed the single Hot Model, currently in rotation everywhere from the WMC in Miami to Istanbul to NYC rock clubs like We Bite!, Motherfucker, Shout!, and Lit. John Kennedy, host of X-Posure on XFM London, recently gave Hot Model its UK radio debut and was impressed enough to interview Milena on the air. In addition, Milena Mepris is involved in several other projects. Two of her songs were recorded by young soul-singer Alice Smith for her debut album, For Lovers Dreamers and Me, loved by Rolling Stone magazine, who included Smith in their "Top 10 Artists to Watch" (Sept 21 2006). For Lovers is out this September on BBE/Epic records. Milena will also sing and co-write songs with Junior Sanchez for his upcoming solo record.
